Design Learning Academy

Design Learning Academy is a flexible, parent-led homeschool pathway within Cajon Valley Homeschool that serves students in grades K–8. This program follows a traditional homeschool model in which parents take the lead in daily instruction, supported by a credentialed teacher, district-provided curriculum, and a range of tools and resources. Families who choose this model benefit from the independence of home-based learning while still enjoying the structure, accountability, and academic expectations of a public school program.

Students enrolled in Design Learning Academy have access to a wide variety of enriching experiences beyond the home. Each week, students are invited to participate in on-campus “Explorations” at our Jamacha Elementary site. These engaging sessions offer hands-on learning in areas such as robotics, art, music, video production, and maker opportunities—allowing students to collaborate, create, and connect with peers.

To support academic success, all students are issued a Chromebook and have access to virtual assemblies, field trips, and community gatherings throughout the year. Additional academic support is available through 1:1 tutoring, small group interventions, and targeted content support in both English Language Arts and Math.

Design Learning Academy is built on strong parent-school partnerships. Our teachers and support staff are dedicated to equipping and empowering parents in their role as their child’s primary educator. With both flexibility and structure, this program offers a dynamic homeschool experience backed by the strength of the Cajon Valley Union School District.
